Comments: Being stationed aboard the USS Holland was the best experience I had during my Navy career. We were all one big family who always looked out for each other. If not for patience and guidance of everyone I would have never earned my ESWS.
Comments: I met some of the finest people in the Navy here! And some of the worse. Joe Babin, what rock are you hiding under? I guess the same one as P.J. Tobias.
Comments: Great Captain. Great crew. Great memories.
Comments: The Holland will always hold a special place for me!
Comments: Had a wonderful time club hopping. Pics of John Ball and Lord Mountbaltam on the captains boat.
Comments: Good Times, Lots of friends and memories
Comments: Some of the people were not the best but I still miss the old girl and all my friends. Bob, Wilkie, Bill, Matt. We all had a great time on Guam. I sure as h**l don't miss Mr2 dugan or his suck daddy warrant officer that was my reason for leaving instead of continuing on to a carreer in the Navy. sure do miss the island.
Comments: My dad, retired Captain Lawrence Wigley was on board in the Holy Loch 1977-1979. Wanted to see if any other navy brats were around. My dad is good. My mom, Shirley passed away about a year ago from breast cancer. I miss "The World's Greatest Tender" year's!
Comments: Hello to all the other RADIAC Technicians from the Holland. One of favorite memories was Scuba Diving on Christmas Day. I had a blast in Hong Kong and Darwin.
Comments: Forgot how exciting the "trip" from Charleston was until I read some of these accounts...
Comments: Three years of 80+ hour work weeks with our only time off when we went out to sea, that is if we didn’t get picked to say behind to work on subs. R-4 was not the place to be but the people in R-4 were great to be with. And the food was great too.
Comments: 1st duty Station. Lots of great memories.
Comments: I will love to see some of the people I was on the boat with.
Comments: Served onboard from Jan 1983 to May 1987. Worked in the medical department. Had great shipmates. Kevin if you read... I stayed in and made Master Chief....I will retire in 2012 with 30 years in Navy. It has been a great ride!
Comments: I enjoyed my tours onboard USS HOLLAND AS-32 and along with other shipmates learn to accomplish with a "Can Do" spirit. My experiences onboard helped me progress throughout the Navy with confidence to other commands and as a Tugmaster. Their are so many memories along with faces from working with Squadrons 16, 14 and shipboard division shipmates.
Comments: Came aboard in Dec 1965 only spent about a week on board then went to temp duty to the Squadron tugboat. Left Rota in late 1966 and met the Holland in Charleston. The ride back to Rota in 1969 was wild I will never forget it. Good times in both places. Would like to hear from old shipmates.
Comments: Good times!! I was a baby and made some amazing friends and family!!! I married Myron (Mikey) Bose, BM3 after we left and we had 2 amazing kids. We are now divorced but he is San Diego, Ca. I am remarried in Fl. I will never forget this ship and crew!!
Comments: Great times on the Holland and friends in Charleston and Rota. Lived in an 16 apartment building off base, what memories! The Vonerhyde's, Starkey's, Musgrave's, Parker's, Miller's Richardson's, Erickson's, Norman's ,McDaniel's. Wonder where the single guys who attended our parties and where the guys from the Good, Bad, and the Ugly.
Comments: One of the 38 shop 'heavies". Still remember how to do a screw change in the dry dock. Wife and I lived on the Low Road above Marshals Dairy. First son was born in Greenoch on July 4th, 1980. Great memories. Would like to revisit Dunoon someday. |
