Comments: I came onboard I believe Jan 27, 1983. First group of 25 females, first enlisted to Eng/M Div/ Aft Eng Rm. AS-32 was in the shipyard for an overhaul, and preparing to go to Guitmo, then left for Diego Garcia. I think we arrived in Diego Garcia the 3rd of June, left the end of Aug, 1st of Sep. Stopped in Perth, Australia around the 4th of Sep for a few days, then came back around through the Panama Canal. Back in port, Charleston, SC around the 3rd of Oct. My name when I fist boarded was EN3 Snyder, Then when I came back in 1986 it was EN2 Parsons, and finally EN1 Schrolucke when I reenlisted and transferred to the Chas. Naval Consolidated Brigg. I have many good memories of my time spent on the Holland, and the life long friends I have made.

Comments: The USS Holland AS-32 was an excellent duty station for me and many Navy members. I made many crew members happy during my tenure by providing them special pay ( pay between pay periods). The USS Holland provided a safe haven for me as I served my country as well as I knew how. Memories will live on for many years to come.
Comments: While on Board i made alot of friends it was a great time..
Comments: Just checking to see if everyone is out of jail yet ...
Comments: Just found photos of the old girl rusting on the Tender Tales website, made me kinda sad. - Anyone remember when some idiot opened the firemain in the forward storerooms and the Holland took that 10 degree down bubble? - It's funny how all the best Sea Stories really sucked at the time.
Comments: I see our ship is in the moth ball fleet in the Carquinez Straights California
Comments: I am the daughter of Dennis Mohr, and am helping my Dad to find people who he knew while serving time in the navy. He was known as the illustrated man for all the tattoo's he had. He doesn't have a computer so I am doing what I can to help him, I left my e-mail and he will get any messages that are sent to me.

Comments: hi to steam gen. team
Comments: I was an SKC select off USS Alamos AFDB-7 TAD to CSS-14 Supply Dept/ USS Canopus AS-34 for cross deck to USS Holland AS-32 upon arrival in the Loch. SKC Hall went to US with USS Canopus AS-34 the "Real SubSat Chief". Delayed freeze on Chief's promotion until after transfer I was "welcomed to goat locker by Holland's Chief's !! USS Holland AS-32 set the standard for Automated Supply Inventory Location and accuracy counts consolidated 4 or more multiple locations and effectiveness at 98% taught at Supply Corps School as the example for how to do it; as tender C well into the late eighties. I retired like many of the enlisted on Holland, AFTER this period at a much higher rank as the officers over us did also, and that leads me to remember X.O. Lindsay who was every sailor's sailor. I will never forget his leadership and full support for the men of all divisions; providing the standards of positive attitude. I hope the FN he gave a piggyback ride around the gym at E Div party to gain his respect; writes in the log about that event...known ship wide. X.O. said he'd do anything to get the ship's morale up after their yard period and arrival in Holy Loch to relieve Canopus. X.O Lindsay relieved our X.O. God rest his soul. He was a great military mentor for me personally. To the men that made me a better Chief and Senior Chief select, not to mention LDO thank each of you all of SubSat and LPO SK1 Bill Eash at the time, and his crew. I left S6 to have Lt Turpie now retired Capt.SC, USN my S1 boss, SK1 John Ruditis, Rickey Boss, and their crews each and everyone set the records for Holland, Chief Larry Shields another ole Hoosier and his Stock Control Officer whom put the whole supply dept. team together to set these records. We may be dinosaur storekeeps and suppos but we still hold the record since tenders really don't exist any longer, nor SK's God Bless you' all' ! |
