It seems like forever since I served on the Holland. Hard to believe I have been in the Navy for 17 years now. Better yet, harder to believe I made it to Chief. Looking forward to getting into contact with some former shipmates.

Served onboard from1981-84 flew to Holy Loch right after bootcamp in Orlando Fla. Was in deck division 1 crane division ran all shipboard cranes. Sailed back to Charleston SC for ship overhaul on the USS Alamos drydock, then it was off on the world cruise to Diego Garcia where we serviced fast frigates and destroyers. Had some good times onboard the Holland lots of memories!

The USS Holland was the first ship I stationed on in the USNavy and my first command after graduating EM "A" school.  I am retiring from the Navy after serving for 20 years and would like a flag from the USS Holland in my shadow box.  Do you know if it's possible for me to find one?

I want to thank all of you for serving on board the Navy's finest.  Our job was very important during the CW.  I used to tie up the subs that came in and worked in a variety of S-3 areas such as the dry cleaning shop/cutting hair as well. Got out in 1980 and returned to the Reserves in 1997.  Believe it or not, I served in Iraq in 2006.  I hate to see those pictures of Holland in CA.  God bless you all.
