I enjoyed most of my time on the Holland with the exception of the final few months when all heck broke loose and my Commander retired and I....... well lets just say I was out of the Navy within a few months after he left!!!! "NOT MY CHOICE"!!!! I have a family, We are doing very well in life and hope everyone else is also doing great I cant remember to many names but if you remember me drop me an email love to catch up with some people!!! Yes Department / Division / Shop : Repair/R-1/ 11A and Lag Shop Comments: I loved my time onboard. I remember practicing leaving the ship for the last time with crew and as we were standing on the pier in ranks the ship moaned. I think everyone was crying...I had the time of my life and have great memories including meeting my husband. Yup 16 years of marriage and going strong..My biggest influence in my life back then was my Chief Robinson. I was stationed with him when I was an E-2 and then again in Guam. Great memories of Guam. I will make it back there one day....

No Where you part of the 1996 Decom Crew ? No Department / Division / Shop : Deck Comments: I worked all three divisions in Deck Department. I was one of the special services fishing boat coxswains while in Rota. I also spent a good many hours operating the Boat/Missile, torpedo, and pier cranes while in Rota. I was the Second Division Division Officer as a BM2 during the first part of the Bremerton overhaul. Then I switched with BMC Moore to become the First Division Officer. I served on the master at arms force as the only Petty Officer Second Class during the last few months of the overhaul until my departure in Holy Loch. I remember many names and have fond memories of my time on the Holland. Anyone remember PO1 Grommling, PO1 O'Grady, PO1 Colby all on the MAA force?

Really glad I no longer have to do 2k pms on Fairbanks engines, probably have black lung from doing that, not sure on the asbestos thing yet either. I miss the fish and chips too!

At times here and there he smells the salt air and remember the days he was young.
