Comments: I had a blast on that girl, alto of good and bad, I boarded her in August of 89 but of course I had to do my time in the scullery, and if that wasn't bad enough hurricane Hugo was rolling through SC. Before I new it we were under way trying to go around Hugo but my god the ship was listing port to starboard and yes, I couldn't get any work done because I was turning green on the deck. Fond Memories. LOL

Comments: really would like to hear from some of you old farts from my era. i am in constent contact contact with torpedo man 3rd jack casebier from reading ks. give me a shout
Comments: At my request, I was transferred from the USS Shenandoah AD-26 to the Holland in the summer of 1963, shortly after the latter had had its "shake down cruise." The Holland sent a small group of us TAD to the USS Proteus at Holy Lock to learn how to machine new materials and work with new equipment. It turned out that there was no such new technology. The Proteus steamed to Rota, getting there before the Holland, which met us there a few weeks later. I mainly served as R-2 Division police petty officer and R-2 Division supply petty officer for most of the time I was aboard, prior to being shipped to Charleston for discharge in early February of 1965. Glasgow and Rota were very memorable duty stations. I would dearly love to hear from some of my shipmates. I am only in touch with two by email at this time. Among those I spent liberty time with were Sidney Miller, Mark Dutton, LeRoy Froman, and Chuck Bright. There were many others, but my memory is fading.

Comments: This was my first and last ship and she's very special to me. I fondly remember the good times I had on board. I'm still intouch with some of my old shipmates and we enjoy sharing our memories. I left active duty in April 1983, about a month before she left for the world cruise. Sorry I missed it.
