I had a fantastic time on the Holland while in Holy Loch and during our 'World Tour' with Captain "Be-No". I chose to stay in Charleston for many years after that and now in Norfolk area where I was present during the christining of both The Ronald Reagan and The George Bush carriers.

Went on board the day the Holland got to Charleston from Holy Loch (1973), went with her through the Panama Canal on the way to Bremerton, WA for Shipyard overhaul (1974). In fact the day we went thru the canal was the same day Richard Nixon resigned as President.  Discharged at the end of that Shipyard Period (1975).
Stayed in Seattle nearly 10 years.  Went to work for US Army as civilian Electrician.
Thanks, USS Holland and US Navy

I don't miss the grind, but I do miss the people (well, most of them:-0). Wouldn't mind hearing from a few that were stationed with me.

I was truly blessed with the crew assigned to Holland.  Keeping out in front of them was a difficult job.

Refits, UnRep, Helo Ops, Dental support for Yokosuka NB dependents,
an OPPE, & an INSURV...

Oh yeah... Full Flank Turns...

Took on all comers & smiled!

Wish I could go back to Rota and enjoy the antiquity of it all.
Too much culture shock for a 19 year old man.

Orange Slice (Chuck), Barry (Rodberg), and Karina, glad to see all of you on here.  Haun, you still out there?  I have to say, the days on Guam were some of the best times of my life.  I thank everyone I served with for the memories.
