Comments: I made great friends on that old ship, and we still get together every couple of years. Tod Lamoy, Tom Sanchez, Peter Guzman, Glenn Jackson. The USS HOLLAND was by far the best command during my time in the NAVY.
Comments: Nato ICBM missle launch off Cape Cannaveral, port-o-calls: Nassau Bahama, Bermuda, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Annapolis. Went out to sea in front of how many hurricanes? Three, maybe four. Can't remember. Stood watch CIC, Pier Guard Shack, Quater Deck, Bridge Radar. SWS. Antenae Shop. Firefighting alongside some of the best, except our poor Chief who walked into a CO2 flooded paint locker without OBA and had to be carried out by another with OBA. He survived, and learned a valuable lesson, trust the CO2 flood alarm. Many stories, many heartaches, real happy to get shore duty after that.
Comments: I enjoyed being on the Holland and miss the friends I made. I would love to hear from them. I am married with one son and live in Georgia.
Comments: When I first came aboard, my last name was China.
Comments: Loved the Holland primarily because we went to Spain.
Comments: It was an interesting tour of duty.
Comments: I loved my time in Scotland where I lived on the shore of the Clyde. Overhauled her in Charleston, then I moved off to the destroyer Thorn, in Charleston. On the net I recently found lots of pics taken by the yard workers who came to the Holland to get equipment. It was interesting. I haven't been able to find it again. Also, below is something I found on flickr. A story with pics written by Amy Heiden. She is a much better photog than the yard workers were. U.S.S. Holland Submarine Tender / Mothball Fleet Story
Comments: Stationed onboard the USS HOLLAND - Great memories and morale! Half-tour in Supply as a Ship's Serviceman. The other half of my tour I was the ship's Legal Yeoman for the CO's SJA, just before I left to attend Naval Justice School to rate change to Legalman.
Comments: This tour of duty sucked..I swear it felt like we stayed in shift work...Good thing was I met some awesome people and have maintained quite a few good friends!
Comments: Have great memories!
Comments: How many people remember when we went 8 degrees beyond the point of no return.
Comments: Had a great time aboard the Holland. I remember Steve Engle, Tom Terry, Mike Ahern, TMCS Burke and Vince Cummings. If anyone knows of their whereabouts, I'd sure like to know. Played on the softball team known as the Midgy Dodgers. Remember those flying teeth?
Comments: Is Capt. J. J. Badgett still alive? If so, does anyone know his address or phone number? Robert M. Sweet, DMD, MD
Comments: Like many other shipmates I found my sea legs on the old girl, went through hurricane Hugo and spent any hours working on both subs and as a member of the ships company. Some of the best years of my life and it was a good ride while it lasted. Many memories and many friends made with no regrets!

Comments: A great ship to serve on. In dental at that time, the dept. head was Cdr Harris, then Dr. McIntyer, Dr. Knight. Dt1 Tom Board was Lpo, Dt3 Jim Greenwood, Gary Pegg, and me, Dt2 Bob Heyworth who manned the very tiny dntal lab. It was fun, and a great education. Does anyone remember anyone else from either Dental or Medical?
