First ship, almost caused me to get out, but learned valuable life lessons and as most shipmates who served on her, how to work hard!! Would love to hear from any IC's who served with me!! Look me up on Facebook!! God Bless

I HAD THE TIME OF MY YOUNG LIFE.I WAS 17 IN SPAIN WHERE I COULD DRINK AND GET DRUNK AND MEET YOUNG LADYS OF SPAIN. I REMBER GETING DRUNK ONE NIGHT AND FALLING OFF THE PIER,AND THE SHIP,THE BOATS AROUND US AND THE BASE ALL HAD TO WAKE UP BECAUSE OF ME. I JUST WANT TO SORRY GUYS. AND WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANY ONE WHO WAS ONBOARD 63/64  AL MURPHY      

My time onboard the USS Holland was the best time of my life!

I think of my time as a wonderful advantage to me personally.  I was challenged by both the work and the schedule.  Today I think if this as an opportunity for personal growth, sometimes during the opportunity I wasn't to sure.  Great Liberty!!!!!!

Just discovered this site.  Spent my entire Navy career of 4 years on the Holland.  Loved Rota and Charleston.  Really enjoyed the trip through the Panama Canal going to Bremerton.  Always was on the docks in supply.  Remember fondly (?) driving the van in Rota to the gates to pick up the drunks.

Had too much fun on the trip over to Guam.

Forty years ago, have time remembering, MR3 Bobby Ski is in Keywest,FL. OM3 Bob Bragg is in Island, KY, and anybody remember ENFN Danny Johnson from Ky has passed on, and myself, I live in Hanson, KY, went by the nickname of "Grits"

    Good ship and many good friends. Rota was an experience.Glan to see Capt. Styer at last years reunion.He's scrap book has pictures of G.Dupuis,J.Sektoe,and myself on the Gig.Long time ago.
