Work hard and Play hard was the norm while I was aboard. I also served on the Canopus (twice) and the Simon Lake while they were in Rota. When the Canopus left Spain in June '79, I transferred to the Fleet Weather Central, also in Rota. I transferred to the Fleet Reserve in Jan.'84 and worked in the Navy Calibration Laboratory until it closed it's doors and am presently working at the Golf Course in Rota, Spain. Everyone had a great time in Spain!! I just had to stay here!!!

Best years of my Naval career.  Hard work and lots of good memories.  Wish I could do it all over again.

I was onboard the Holland from 31 Dec 1977-early December 1980.  Came aboard as a Seaman Apprentice and left as a 2nd Class.   I worked in shift work in S7 ADP.  I am approaching my 34 year with either the US Navy active, as a USMC Civilian, or as a USN Civilian.   I've enjoyed every minute, but, not as much as those first three years on the Holland.

I enjoyed my time and duties while assigned to the Holland. Scotland was a great duty station, nice people and beautiful scenery. The fish and chips and steak pies were excellent and the beer was pretty good too. Looking for Rick Foley and any other torpedomen from the 1976 to 1978 time frame. HT2 Mike Shepard, EOD Tech Wayne Bussey and anyone else that might remember me.
