I was only on for a couple years.. hoping to catch up with some old friends. I was originally from Illinois and just moved here to Oklahoma in 2011. The Holland was by far the best place I had ever been. Loved the people I worked with.. I left the ship right before they left for Guam. I wish I had stayed! best time ever!

Experienced some major events including: The 6 day war, The attack on USS Liberty by Israel (will never forget or forgive), the B52 Crash and the scramble to find the missing nuclear weapon (saw Alvin the deep submersible in Rota), the huge fire in Engine Room...what devastation! What a eventful year was 66! Transferred to Canopus AS34 for another 18 months with 6 mo. involuntary extension..remember that! Had a great house Chipionia and a new VW Bug....life was pretty good on $140 buck a month. I now have a Spanish wife and live in Barcelona! Funny how life works out, yeah?

N/A Department / Division / Shop : US Marine Detachment Comments: To tell the truth I actually enjoyed my 2 years aboard her, and all of the marines and Squids I encountered, it truly was a real brotherhood and I am so very happy realize this type of recognizing one another is available to us. Had great times on the beach, in Jerez at the Bodega, across the Bay in Cadiz, at the American club among others in Rota, even had great times participating on Gunny Moore's Baseball team which competed in the USAFE tourney

Comshaw work for bubbleheads.3 section duty,steaming back from England 12 on 12 off,storm was bad waves washing over the bow,listing bad. Fun on the fantail one time all you could see was sky then the screws would come down,hit the water banging like the devil wanted on board,then all you could see was water.Remember all the good times and shipmates.
