No Department / Division / Shop : Navigation/Communications Comments: At first, I didn't know what I was getting into.. First day of boot camp, after only 2 hours sleep, was rudely awakened to the sound of a trash can being beaten. Before I opened my eyes, I thought I was still at home. My four years in the United States Navy were priceless. I've often reflected back on that time and it has modeled me into the person I am today who embraces courage, honor, discipline , integrity. I held a Top Secret clearance as a Yeoman which allowed me to basically go wherever I wanted even boarding the submarines along side us and that too made me feel very proud. I remember Commander Gill assigned to the Repair Division. He was the XO when both the Captain and regular XO were off the ship. Working directly for this distinguished officer had its perks. No one, I mean NO ONE messed with me and that had a lot of saving graces. He was the most gentle giant and smarter than Einstein! Many friends that I made back then I'm still in contact with today. Dear Christian friends. We requested permission to have a group on board known as the 'Fish Club'. Other shipmates were invited to come join us for spiritual growth and christian bonding and we even had a 'Coffee House' ministry while stationed in Holy Loch. I will remember that time of my life forever and I am deeply indebted to all the fine officers and friends that I served with and am proud to say that I served my country with honor which is a testament in itself to who I am and will always be.

The experiences I had are priceless. People who never served in the military are the unlucky ones. The time I served was well worth it. The four years of my service has well been paid back many times. If it were not for the Navy I would not have had received the benefits that I have today. Go Navy.
