No Department / Division / Shop : Weapons/Mk 45 Torpedo Shop Comments: I had previously served on the USS Proteus and spent 19 months on Guam. My next ship was the USS Hunley in Charleston. Much to my chagrin, I found out that the Hunley was going to relieve the Proteus. I called the Torpedoman detailer in the Pentagon and told him one way or another I was not going back to Guam. He either had to get me off of the Hunley or call the Shore Patrol. He sent me to a C School in Orlando, with no promise as to where I would go after that. I got orders to the Holland. Best time of my life in the Navy. I worked in the Mk 45 Torpedo Shop and became the Sea and Anchor Detail Helmsman. I lived in Rota with my now wife. We are still together. Great times that I miss dearly. My wife and I are going to Spain this spring. I can hardly wait.
